Orot's FIRST Asynchronous Teachable Course
Earth-Based Judaism with Rabbi Sara Brandes
The most significant contribution Judaism has made to the history of the world is the basic idea that time finds its texture in its interplay between progression and pause. Just as the Jewish week is punctuated by six days of creation and one of ceasing, the Torah teaches us that the earth needs a similar rhythm to thrive.
In this shmita year, Rabbi Sara Brandes joins Orot from her home in Israel for a deep dive into earth-based Judaism in our first asynchronous Online Learning opportunity. Through reflection, spiritual practice and text study, the course will explore themes of conscious environmentalism in within Jewish holidays, Jewish time and Jewish values, and will consider the ways we can use Jewish wisdom to inspire us to combat climate crisis.
